Pray the Holy Rosary for the unity of the Catholic Church

“Omnis honor et veneratione quae dicitur ad beata Maria, referitur ad Christum, cuius est mater.”
All honor and veneration given to the Blessed Mary is referred to Christ, Whose Mother She is.

The Holy Rosary, as a compendium of the mysteries of Christ and His Most Holy Mother, is a most powerful instrument of prayer for the Church’s unity. By meditating upon the joys, sorrows, and glories of Our Lord in union with the Blessed Virgin Mary, the faithful are drawn into the life of grace and the interior conformity to Christ, which is the foundation of all ecclesial communion.The Church, one, holy, catholic, and apostolic, is wounded by sin and schism; through the daily recitation of the Rosary, the faithful offer reparation for these divisions, invoke the intercession of the Mother of God, and strengthen the bonds of charity among the faithful. As the Angelic Doctor teaches, devotion to the Blessed Virgin is inseparable from devotion to Christ and His Mystical Body; thus, the daily Rosary is a spiritual work for the upbuilding and preservation of the unity of the Church.

The Mysteries

THREE MYSTERIESA "Mystery" refers to a significant event in the life of Our Lord or His Blessed Mother. These Mysteries are grouped into three sets of five: the Joyful, the Sorrowful, and the Glorious Mysteries.

THE JOYFUL MYSTERIES (Mondays, Thursdays, Sundays of Advent)1. The Annunciation.
2. The Visitation.
3. The Nativity.
4. The Presentation.
5. The Finding in the Temple.

THE SORROWFUL MYSTERIES (Tuesdays, Fridays, Sundays during Lent)1. The Agony of Our Blessed Lord in the Garden.
2. The Scourging of Our Lord at the Pillar.
3. The Crowning of Our Blessed Lord with Thorns.
4. Our Blessed Lord Carrying His Cross.
5. The Crucifixion.

THE GLORIOUS MYSTERIES (Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays after Easter and Pentecost)1. The Resurrection.
2. The Ascension.
3. The Descent of the Holy Ghost on the Apostles.
4. The Assumption of Our Lady into Heaven, Body and Soul.
5. The Coronation of Our Lady, Queen of all Heaven and Earth.

Ut omnes unum sint

That they all may be one
(John 17:21)

The unity of the Catholic Church does not arise from human effort, but is a gift of God Himself, proceeding from Christ who prayed: “Ut omnes unum sint,” “That they all may be one” (Jn 17:21).No other religion possesses this unity. The Church alone maintains one Faith, guarded from error by the Magisterium and the guidance of the Holy Ghost. She alone offers one true Sacrifice, the Eucharist, in continuity with Christ’s offering on Calvary. She alone administers one Baptism, which truly cleanses from original sin and incorporates the faithful into the Body of Christ. And she alone is united under one visible Head on earth, the Pope, preserving doctrinal and sacramental unity across all nations and generations.This unity belongs to the four marks of the true Church: One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. To wound this unity is to oppose the very will of Christ.

Schism, heresy, and apostasy have always threatened the seamless garment of the Church.A schismatic separates himself from the authority of the Roman Pontiff and from communion with the faithful, even while retaining the profession of the Catholic faith.A heretic, by contrast, corrupts the integrity of the faith by denying or obstinately doubting a divinely revealed truth.Apostasy is the most grievous rupture, the total rejection of the Christian faith once professed.Each of these sins, though distinct, rends the Mystical Body of Christ and imperils souls, for outside the unity of the Church there is neither the fullness of truth nor the sure means of salvation.

Out of true charity, Catholics must pray and labor for the return of those separated from this unity. Since supernatural faith and conversion are impossible without divine grace, we recognize that even the first movement of the will toward Christ comes from God. As St. Paul teaches: “No man can say the Lord Jesus, but by the Holy Ghost” (1 Cor. 12:3). Thus, every conversion is the fruit of prevenient grace, which enlightens the intellect, inclines the will, and enables man to cooperate freely with God’s call.The Second Council of Orange defined:If anyone affirms that we can form any right opinion or make any right choice which relates to the salvation of eternal life, as is expedient for us, or that we can be saved, that is, assent to the preaching of the gospel through our natural powers without the illumination and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, who makes all men gladly assent to and believe in the truth, he is led astray by a heretical spirit, and does not understand the voice of God who says in the Gospel, "For apart from me you can do nothing" (John 15:5), and the word of the Apostle, "Not that we are competent of ourselves to claim anything as coming from us; our competence is from God" (2 Cor. 3:5). (Council of Orange, Canon 1.)To pray the Holy Rosary for unity is thus to imitate the charity of the Sacred Heart and the solicitude of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
